I came here for my bday few days ago. They actually just renovated. Its a lot nicer now and has few private rooms. which is nice for family or private dinner parties. All the waiters were nice and friendly. which is a plus. Now to the important part. food. this place has imo excellent food. all the dishes I ordered was good and tasty. lil spicy, which it should b, since this is a spicy restaurant. all the dishes hit the spot just right. you can always ask the waiter to cater the spicyness to your tolerence. so no need to worry about it being too spicy or not as spicy. mayb one downside is the dishes are a lil small. but thats a very lil thing. has no affect on my opinion of this place. From their service to their foof varieties to their food taste, hands down 5 stars. So anyone that is nearby or even not nearby. if you like or love spicy food, def go try this spot. wont b disappointed. and even if youre not into spicy food, still give it a try. it might make you a fan.

Hunan tastes. Spicy, Hot! I like spicy food. Just good for me! Price is around 20-40. 5 adults may cost 200!

We used to go to Hunan Cafe often pre-covid but stopped when the quality dropped. We went again on a Friday night to see if it was better after the renovations. We were pleasantly surprised at the food, portions, service and spaciousness of the new design! Our girls loved the chicken rice noodle soup (incredibly flavorful broth), tripe with bamboo shoots, spicy pig trotter, and spicy cauliflower. Everything was delicious, not too salty with good sized portions so we had a lot doggy bagged. My husband dropped a chopstick and one of the staff quickly ran over to give him a new pair without asking. They also had ikea utensils for kids which was a nice touch. Glad their quality is back, and can't wait to try other dishes.

Unfortunately, I believe this place has closed down. Hopefully it will reopen. I am leaving four stars because I ate here before, and it was excellent. It has one star from Michelin.

One of the better Szechuan restaurants in Flushing. Food is amazing, not too spicy and not too salty. Would recommend cauliflower, tastes amazing with excellent flavor. Service is alright, food takes 7-15 minutes to arrive. Waiters are fine. Ambiance is also okay, not amazing but not bad. Feels like a regular restaurant. Overall, would definitely go there again.

Nicely decorated restaurant! The food is so delicious! Lunch special is a great deal! I love how spicy the food is. They have really great options! Every time I've called the restaurant the people who pick up are very nice to speak with and take my order accurately. They are also very welcoming when I pick up my order. Highly recommend Hunan Cafe! Amazing food and a great deal!

Great taste, price, and decoration. Good amount of spicy without being overbearing. Range of options to choose from. Top picks are their fish with chili oil, pork with bamboo, mao pork, sour bean with pork. Staff are kind, friendly, quick.

Our favorite restaurant in Flushing. Love their fish dishes. Lamb is excellent too. Very good price forgot to take pics of all the dishes.

Slightly off the main drag of Flushing, I recommend this spot for their Hunan delicacies. I've been looking for legit Hunan food, as its hard to find, and came across this place and gave it a go. You can look up Hunan food in general, but its known for its heat and dishes like stinky tofu. I dined in and got the White Pepper and Cured Beef $18.95 Small Fried Stinky Tofu $12.95 I thought both dishes were great. I did ask for the beef to be extra hot and they seemingly complied. The heat going in wasn't any hotter than anything I've eaten before, but the after effects of the spiciness were stronger for sure, lol. I wasn't really sure if I should have gotten the stinky tofu, as I don't like durian and wasn't sure if it was the same stinkiness, but it actually wasn't that bad. Yes it has a mild smell, but definitely not pungent and (imho gross) like durian. I will note that the bathroom there leaves a little bit to be desired, so definitely try not to need that if you're gonna go here. There were at least half a dozen other items I want to try, so I'll be back for sure, despite how rarely I'm in Flushing. Loo
